Iqbal Day: Official Holiday Announced on 9th Nov, 2016

At the event of Iqbal Day, Sindh government has announced that educational institutions will remain closed tomorrow (Wednesday) in Sindh in remembrance of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal. The decision came during a meeting of standing committee for education, Aaj News reported.

Meantime, Rawalpindi Private Schools Association has also announced holiday on the occasion of Iqbal Day.

Earlier, there were reports that the government has decided to announce ‘National Holiday’ on November 9 to commemorate the birthday of Allama Iqbal. Government and private institutions were expected to remain closed, but soon the government revokes its decision.

The Interior Ministry on Tuesday dismissed the summary for Iqbal Day (November 9) to be declared a holiday. Federal offices will remain open as per normal tomorrow (November 9).

A public holiday has been announced by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Iqbal Day. The decision was made after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan advised Chief Minister Pervez Khattack to declare November 9 a public holiday.
